Threaded Flange
A threaded flange features internal NPT or ISO taper threads that engage with the matching external threads of a pipe, creating a leak‑proof seal without welding. It is ideal for low‑pressure systems, maintenance‑intensive applications, and installations where welding poses safety risks. These flanges are commonly used in chemical, petroleum, and water treatment industries for quick assembly and disassembly.
Plate Flange
A plate flange is a flat, circular plate with evenly spaced bolt holes around its perimeter and a smooth face. It serves as a backing flange behind slip‑on or weld neck flanges, providing structural support and alignment. Used in piping systems requiring easy access, plate flanges can also act as lightweight blanking flanges in low‑pressure services.
Weldo Flange
Also called a weldolet flange, this attachment is welded to the branch line of a pipe to create a flange connection without cutting or threading. It provides full‑penetration weld strength at the junction and a smooth flow transition. Commonly used in process piping and high‑integrity systems where minimizing stress concentration is critical.
Slip‑On Flange
A slip‑on flange slips over the pipe's outside diameter and is tack‑welded on the inside and outside to provide moderate strength. Its low hub height and ease of alignment make it popular in low‑ to medium‑pressure applications. Slip‑on flanges are widely used in water treatment, sewage, and HVAC systems.
Lap Joint Flange
A lap joint flange consists of a two‑piece assembly: a stub end permanently welded to the pipe and a loose backing flange that laps over it. This design allows the flange face to rotate for easy bolt alignment and inspection. It's often used in systems requiring frequent dismantling, such as sanitary or chemical process lines.
Anchor Flange
An anchor flange is a heavy‑duty flange welded or bolted to equipment nozzles or fixed supports to anchor piping systems. It absorbs axial thrust and prevents movement under high pressure or thermal expansion. Anchor flanges are common in power plants, refineries, and critical process installations.
